Most movie fans may recall Sharon Tate and Patty Duke from the campy screen version of Jacqueline Susann’s Valley of the Dolls (1967). Perhaps it’s lucky for lovely Barbara Parkins that she tends to be forgotten as the kitsch flick’s co-leading lady despite the fact that she rocked a towel in one titillating scene. Indeed, Barbara was a sex symbol at the time per her Emmy-nominated turn as bad girl Betty Anderson on the soap opera Peyton Place (1964-1969). Yet the brunette ingénue stepped outside of her comfort zone (as well as her clothing) to expose her super naturals in the supernatural film The Mephisto Waltz (1971). After making more chiller dillers (A Taste of Evil and Asylum), the scream queen lent her sexy presence to small screen miniseries, including The Manions of America (1981), Testimony of Two Men (1977), and Captains and the Kings (1976) which featured her nude booty! But here at Skin Central, we’re partial to Barbara’s part in the Australian rom-com Breakfast in Paris (1981) wherein she serves up her bare breasts! Bone appétit! Since then, the busy babe bounced back to the boob tube for guest spots on Scene of the Crime (1991) and Picket Fences (1996). Before the pretty performer retired, she returned to her roots with the TV movies Peyton Place: The Next Generation (1985) and Scandalous Me: The Jacqueline Susann Story (1998) to prove everything that goes around, comes around. And Mr. Skin sure would like to do the latter with Ms. Parkins!
